The opening date for the new Resort & Casino that Harrah's Entertainment is planning to build up in Ciudad Real is projected for the year 2010. It is estimated that this ambitious project, which the American company is planning to build at the residential and entertainment complex of Reino Don Quijote, will attract almost 2 million visitors a year.
The total surface of the complex covers 6.8 million square feet. The hotel, with more that 800 rooms, will have a 5 star category and it will also have a 3,500 square meter spa, restaurants for 3,000 people, a convention center with 2,000 seats as well as a stores area. The casino will be built following the model of Harrah’s most important gambling center and it will also include the construction of more that 8 thousand rooms, a big central lagoon and 3 golf courses.
The European director of Harrah's Entertainment, Andrew Tottenham, said that the company chose Ciudad Real to build its first casino in this continent due to its privileged location, since it has a developed roadmap and the high speed train as well as the imminent opening of a private airport.
Authorities expect that the whole project, in which a 1,200 million euros investment has been previewed, will generate about 7 thousand direct jobs in the city and another 11 thousand in the rest of the Castilla-La Mancha region.
